The CREDITCHECK has been designed for those landlords who generally have some tenant screening experience. They would have preferably sent out their own application forms to the prospective tenant and received a completed application back, would have collected all the documentation and have verified income, checked previous references and now only need confirmation of the tenant’s previous credit history.
(don’t worry if you haven’t done all this but still want the credit check – it’s just a guide – we will get permission from the tenant to conduct the checks along with their I.D. or Passport, and a current photo )
NB – It is important to understand that you are buying a credit report when you purchase this product – we get your prospective tenants’ permission to carry out the check (this is a legal requirement – credit checks cannot be carried out in South Africa without the consumers permission), conduct the check and make it available to yourself.
WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE AT THIS PRICE DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE DO NOT PROVIDE any advice, opinion or analysis on the suitability of your prospective tenant or on their credit report. Should you require a full assessment of the prospective tenant, we would suggest that you opt for the FULL TENANTCHECK product.
The credit check should be scrutinised together with a comprehensively completed application form, applicable documentation and reference confirmation. All of the information collectively allows you to compare the tenant’s application form with the CREDIT CHECK and the various other information you have obtained.
It is advisable to credit check every adult that will be contributing to the monthly rental and/or living on the property.
We have attached the “EMAIL TO TENANT” which is an example of an email you can send to your tenant once they have indicated interest in applying for your property. It explains the process to the tenant.
• Rule of thumb is that combined household earnings should be around about three times the rental. (though levels of indebtedness are also an important factor)
• Best practice is to check everyone over 18 who will be living at the property and contributing toward the rent – in the case of couples, definitely check both!

1. Once we have received payment, we conduct the CREDITCHECK.
2. We notify you the check has been completed and you can view, print or email all the information direct from Your login page.
This product cannot be upgraded to the full TENANTCHECK product at a later stage. Should you be unsure of whether or not you might want to upgrade or what kind of application form and supporting documentation you need to request from the tenant to complete the screening, it may be more prudent to rather select the CREDITCHECK WITH DOCUMENT COLLECTION product – it is only R100.00 more and you will get everything you need to be able to carry out a proper screening and have the option to upgrade to the full TENANTCHECK if you need to.
It all depends on how quickly the prospective tenant/s respond. As soon as you have submitted the tenants details, the tenant will automatically be notified by SMS and email and asked to confirm permission for us to carry out the credit checks and to forward us a copy of their I.D. – all of which can be done on the site in a matter of minutes.(we use electronic signatures) – as soon as we receive everything back, we will notify you to make the purchase. As soon as we receive proof of payment, we will conduct the check and make available to yourself – it could be done within an hour but we prefer to say 3 hours on average, subject of course to the speed of the tenant’s response and our business hours.
Our business hours are 9am -5pm, Monday to Friday.
Fear not! Communication is very important to us. We are acutely aware that you are anxious to know if you found the right tenant and have let your property out!
Our system has been purposely designed to notify you by email and SMS, whenever any activity takes place on your account – any communication, payment or document upload will immediately be communicated to you so you can see exactly what is happening in real time and can check your profile instantly!
We will let you know as soon as we have contacted the tenant and we will let you know as soon as we receive anything from your tenant and when your report is ready, so you know exactly what is happening every step of the way. Please also feel free to contact us at any stage for any reason.
As soon as you submit your tenants details, our system immediately contacts the tenant on the contact details you have provided and sends them a permission form and instructions on what to submit. Our system is alerted whenever any activity takes place so we know exactly when anything is submitted and a team member immediately checks the documentation – you too are alerted.
24 hours after we contact the tenant, if we have not yet received any documentation, our system will send a reminder to the tenant that we are waiting on their response. Should we not receive any response 24 hours after that, we will notify you and suggest that you carry on looking for another tenant or you may want to contact the tenant to check if they still intend applying. If you get no response from them, they probably don’t intend to.
